The William Miller Bouknight Theatre located in the Society’s Joanne T. Rainsford Discovery Center at 405 Main Street in Edgefield is the venue where the Society’s Main Street Players offer theatrical performances on a regular basis throughout the year.
Some of their plays are based upon historical events and people from Edgefield’s rich history, and some are popular plays that the Players choose to perform. Historical plays which have been done include “The Devil in Petticoats,” the story of Edgefield’s infamous husband killer, Becky Cotton, and “The Loves of Lucy Pickens,” the fascinating story of the romantic entanglements of Edgefield’s “Queen of the Confederacy,” Lucy Holcombe Pickens (1832-1899).
The Society anticipates adding to the number of its historical plays in the months and years to come. Please refer to the Upcoming Events page or to the Main Street Players Facebook group for scheduled performances.
